Stop OneDrive from creating automatic photo albums in 3 steps

One of the most annoying featurеs of OneDrive is that it automаtiсallу creates photo albums from the pictures that yoυ upload to this storage service and іt notifies you about each album it creates. If you tаkе many pictures and store them in OneDrive, this can drive you crazy, and you wіll want to turn it off. Herе's how:

NOTE: This guide applies to all OneDrive users. It doesn't matter if you use it on Windows 10 computers and devices, Android smartphones and tablets, Xbox One consoles or other devices. The instructions are the same, and this feature is turned off for all platforms where you have OneDrive.

Step 1: Sign into OneDrive

First, go to a computer or device and start your favorite web browser. Then, go to the OneDrive website and sign up with your Microsoft account. Make sure to sign in using the same Microsoft account that is used on the computers and devices where you get the annoying album notifications.

Step 2: Go to OneDrive's settings

You need to access OneDrive's settings. To do that, click or tap the Settings button in the top-right corner. It looks like a cog-wheel. Then, in the menu that opens, choose Options.

Step 3: Turn off the creation of automatic albums

First, OneDrive shows you its storage-related settings. In the column on the left, click or tap Photos.

Here you see a switch that says: "Create albums automatically when I upload photos."

Set this switch to Off, like in the screenshot below.

You can sign out and, from now on, the next time your devices and computers connect to OneDrive, using the OneDrive app, they will receive this setting and stop showing notifications about photo albums that were automatically generated for you.

Bonus: Turn off album notifications from the mobile OneDrive app

For some mobile platforms like Android, Microsoft has released new app OneDrive apps that allow you to put out this feature from their notifications. On your Android smartphone, when you receive a OneDrive notification saying that it has created an album for you, extend the notification by flicking downwards on top of it. Then you see a button that says: "Opt-out of auto albums."

Tap on it and you are done.
