Fix you don’t have permission to save in this location: If you are facing this error then this means you’re not able to save or modify files and folders on your PC. The main cause of this error seems to be hard disk was formatted in an earlier version of Windows NTFS file system and since then you have not formatted the disk. Anyway, now you can’t possibly format the entire hard disk, so we have found alternative solutions which seem to fix this issue. This error comes out of nowhere while working on your PC you may encounter the error saying:

When you try to save a file to a hard disk or to a flash drive you will receive the above error and it’s literally very annoying not being able to save a file on the desired location on your own PC. Even taking Ownership of the files doesn’t seem to help much

Make sure to create a restore point just in case something goes wrong.

Method 1: Give Administrative Permissions in Group Membership

1.Press Windows Key + R then type “netplwiz” (without quote) and hit Enter to open User Account Settings.

2.From the list of user account select the one which is giving the error.

3.After-Highlighting the user click Properties.

4.Now in the new window that open switch to Group Membership tab.

5.You will see three options there namely: Standard, Administrator and other. Make sure to select the checkbox next to Administrator and click Apply followed by OK.

6.This will grant you the complete access to save or change file permissions in Windows 10 PC to modify all the files and folder with the Administrator permissions.

7.Close everything and this would Fix you don’t have permission to save in this location, so again try to save the file.

Method 2: Change Permissions

1.Navigate to C: drive then right-click and select Properties.

2.Switch to the Security tab and click the Edit button.

3.Make sure to check Full control for home users and Administrator.

Method 3: Workaround

If you don’t want to try any complex method listed above then you can simply try this workaround which will let you save the file in any location you want.

Right-click the shortcut that starts the program and then click Run as Administrator to start the program. Once you are done with the program, save the file to the desired location and this time you will be able to do this successfully.

Method 4: Format the drive as NTFS

Make sure not to format the drive containing Windows as it will remove everything from the drive.

1.One Windows File Explorer by pressing Windows Key + E and navigate to This PC.

2.Select the drive which is experiencing the issue and then right-click select Format.

Note: Make sure you don’t select Local Disk (C:) as this contains Windows.

3.Next, select NTFS (default) file system from the list.

4.Click to select the Quick Format check box and then click Start.

5.Close everything and again try to save the file on the desired location.

If you’re still facing the issue even after trying all the above steps then you need to format your whole disk using NTFS (default) file system and then install Windows in order to permanently fix the issue.
