The packaging for Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad is similar to that used for other Prestigio products. It's simple, it looks good and it does a good job at informing you about what you get when you buy this tablet. The most important specifications are listed on the back of the box.

Inside the box you will find the following: the tablet, the charger, a USB cable, a micro USB to USB adapter, a quick user guide, the warranty and some legal and safety documentation.

Hardware Specifications

The hardware specifications of this tablet are what you would expect for devices in its price range. Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad has a quad-core Intel Atom Processor Z3735G, running at 1.3 GHz, capable of a burst frequency of 1.83 GHz, an Intel HD graphics chip running at 311 MHz, 1 GB of RAM DDR3 and 16GB of storage space. The storage space can be extended with the help of a Micro SD/Micro SDHC Card.

The display is an average 8" IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. This tablet's size is 208.5 mm (8.2 inches) width , 130.3 mm (5.1 inches) height and 9.4mm (0.37 inches) thick. It weighs only 0.37 kg (0.81 pounds).

Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad has two cameras: a 2 Megapixel camera on the back and a 1.3 Megapixel camera on the front. In terms of of connectivity and ports, you get an audio jack for plugging in headphones and speakers, a microphone jack, a micro USB 2.0 port, and a card reader.

Using The Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad

In terms of design, Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad is a decent looking tablet with a good build quality. It is not very sexy but it isn't ugly either. Also, it feels good to hold in your hand and the weight seems just right for a tablet this size.

One drawback is that there's no Windows button and we consider this a problem for Windows tablets. Without this button, it is harder to navigate the operating system and get back to the Start screen. Also, it is impossible to take quick screenshots. The display is an IPS LCD with decent viewing angles. However, the color reproduction is not that great - it just doesn't compare to that of the Lumia 2520. Also, its outdoors visibility is rather average.

After the initial set up, we immediately ran Windows Update. Unfortunately, updating Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad to the latest version of Windows 8.1 and the latest updates takes a very long time. Also, while Windows gets updated, the tablet is not as responsive as it is in normal conditions and the user experience is a bit lackluster during this time. We did not enjoy the fact that Windows Update was very slow to find, display and install updates.

Once the updates were done, we were satisfied with the performance of this tablet. We had no troubles with running several apps in parallel, playing casual games, listening to music or viewing YouTube videos. However, the sound quality is very average and this is not a surprise for a tablet that costs less than $200.

The biggest drawback of the Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad tablet is the storage space available. By default, it comes with 16GB of storage but a big portion of it is used by hidden partitions: the recovery partition uses 3.46 GB while the EFI system partition uses 100MB. By default, you will see only one system partition with 10.9 GB of space on it. After updating Windows 8.1, you will end up with only 1.93GB of free storage space. This is very little and you must invest in a MicroSD card, if you want to have space for files, apps and games. We filled it just by installing several benchmark apps.

The rear camera of this tablet takes pictures with a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels and records videos with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. Since we're talking about an affordable tablet, it is expected for the camera not to be a great performer and it isn't. Both cameras on this device work well only for casual uses like Skype video chats. You won't be able to make high-quality pictures and videos with them.

The wireless chip on this tablet works only with wireless networks using the 2.4 GHz frequency. It is not capable of discovering and connecting to 5GHz wireless networks. This may be a drawback for some users.

The battery life on the Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad is rather average for a tablet - it lasts somewhere between 4 and 6 hours, depending on what you do. Also, if you use it for tasks that are more demanding, like games, the tablet gets hot in the top-right corner, when you use the portrait orientation. This may annoy some users if the tablet is running for a long time. Also, another less positive aspect is the fact that the charging cable is short and you need to sit close to the power plug if you want to use it while charging.

The micro USB port is used for charging the tablet and for connecting other USB devices. Obviously you cannot do both at the same time and that may be a drawback for some users. It's good that Prestigio has bundled a micro USB to USB adapter that you can use to connect all kinds of devices. It is included in the box and you do not have to purchase it separately.

Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad offers good build quality and decent performance at an affordable price. Also, it is very easy to hold and carry around.

Performance In Benchmarks

We ran several tests and measurements on the Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad and decided to compare it with other similar devices that we have tested in the past: Toshiba Encore 2, Prestigio MultiPad Visconte 3 and Nokia Lumia 2520.

First we measured how fast this tablet starts, using BootRacer. As you can see in the picture below, the tablet starts on average, in 36 seconds.

Then, we ran the 3DMark app from the Windows Store to measure gaming performance. In the Ice Storm Unlimited test (the most detailed test available). Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad obtained an average score of 11857 points, making it the slowest performing Windows tablet we have tested so far.

Then, we used HD Tune Pro to measure how fast the storage is when writing and reading data. As you can see in the graph below, reading data from the storage available on this tablet is done at a rate of 151.57 MB/s while writing data is much slower - only 31.76MB/s.

To evaluate the battery time we used the Peacekeeper benchmark which tells us how much the battery lasts while browsing the web. As you can see in the graph below, the Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad lasted only 4 hours and 19 minutes.

The charging time is also slow. It took us somewhere between 3 and 3.5 hours to charge this tablet from 0 to 100%.

After running all these tests, we can conclude that Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad is not a top performer when compared to other Windows tablets. However, considering its very affordable price, its performance is rather decent.

Apps That Are Bundled With The Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad

Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad follows the good tradition of not bundling any junk apps. On this tablet you will find installed only these two additional software packages:

Microsoft Office 365 Personal - this is a very useful 1 year subscription that you can easily activate and use. With it, you get access to the whole Office suite for one year, 60 minutes of international calls per month through Skype and 1TB of storage space on OneDrive. This is of great value to all users.

Prestigio mStudent - is a classroom management software that can be used to deliver and manage remote classrooms between teachers and students. We do not understand why Prestigio decided to bundle this desktop application. It will be useful only if it is sold to schools that plan to use this tablet in their classes. Otherwise, users should remove it to free up some precious storage space.

Prestigio continues their positive tradition of not bundling any junk on their Windows tablets and that' great. More vendors should follow their example.

The main aspect that sets the Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad tablet apart is its price. It costs less than $200 and it offers very good value for the money. Yes, it is not a top performing device but the overall build quality is decent, it's performance is good enough for most uses and it bundles a valuable Microsoft Office 365 Personal subscription. We consider Prestigio MultiPad Visconte Quad a good choice for budget-conscious users.
