How to hide Quick Links on a New tab page in Edge using Registry Editor

In this tutorial, we will show you how to hide the Quick Links menu on the New Tab page in Edge using Registry Editor. Microsoft Edge comes with a Quick Links menu. Edge automatically adds the websites to this menu that you visit the most. This lets you visit your favorite websites with a single click instead of typing the complete URL in the address bar of your web browser. The Quick Links menu is customizable and you can:

• Add new websites to it.
• Delete the existing websites from it.

To hide the Quick Links menu from the Edge settings you need to:

1. Launch Edge browser
2. Click on the Page Settings gear icon on the home page in Microsoft Edge.
3. Click on the Custom option.
4. Now, click on the Show Quick Links button to turn it Off.

It is a simple process. Hence, if you have a shared computer, anyone can turn it On or Off from the Edge settings.

If you want to disable the Quick Links menu permanently so that no one can turn it On, you have to tweak the registry settings.

Hide Quick Links on a New tab page in Edge using Registry Editor

Follow all the instructions that we will list here carefully because any mistake while tweaking the registry editor can cause serious errors in your system. Before you proceed, we recommend you to backup the registry on your hard drive so that you can recover it if any problem occurs.

The steps to hide Quick Links in Edge using Registry Editor are listed below:

1. Launch the Registry Editor on your computer.
2. Go to the \Policies\Microsoft path that we will describe later in this article.
3. Create a new DWORD value – NewTabPageQuickLinksEnabled.
4. Double-click on the newly created value and set its value data to 0.
5. Click OK to save the settings.

All these steps are explained below in detail.

1] Launch the Run dialog box. Enter regedit and click OK. After that click Yes on the UAC window. This will launch the Registry Editor.

2] Copy the path written below and paste it into the address bar of the Registry Editor. After that press Enter. This will take you directly to the targeted key.

3] Expand the Microsoft key and select the Edge subkey. Now, right-click on the right pane and go to “New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.”

Name the Value as NewTabPageQuickLinksEnabled.

4] By default, the value data of the newly created DWORD Value is 0. If not, double-click on it and set its value data to 0.

5] Click OK to save the changes and close the Registry Editor.

This will hide the Quick Links menu from the Edge New Tab page permanently. If you had left Edge open on your system during the process, close it and launch again.

Now, no one can turn On the Quick Links menu from the Edge settings.

If any person tries to do so, he will find that the option is grayed out and a message “Managed by your organization” is displayed every time he hovers his mouse.

If you want to bring the Quick Links menu back, change the value data of NewTabPageQuickLinksEnabled to 1. If it does not work, delete the DWORD Value from the Registry Editor.
